- Matthew 25:1 Jesus taught: “(T)he kingdom of heaven will be like 10 maidens who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 5 were foolish and 5 were wise. The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil. The wise ones took oil. The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil….’, ‘No,’ they replied...(G)o and buy some.’ (W)hile they were gone, the bridegroom arrived. The maidens who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. (T)he door was shut.
- Later the others returned. ‘Lord, open the door for us!’ (H)e replied, ‘I tell you, I don’t know you.’
- Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.
- The party (peace, joy) was there for them. They were told about it! There was a party… and they missed it.
- Life stares us in the face and we get warned over and over – it is going to end. And the end might be very sudden.
- Where is that party of peace and joy going on in your day? Are we "in the moment". Or do we get distracted so we miss it.
- Look for it. Show up for the party.
