  • Moments, Trinity Lutheran Church, Brattleboro, VT, January 8, 2023
  • Matthew 3:16 - As soon as Jesus was baptized, at that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”
  • Baptism symbolized a washing away of the past and a new beginning; people confessed their sins and were made new. Jesus was about 30 years old when he was baptized in the Jordan River. He had a “spiritual” experience when he was baptized, he heard a voice and saw the Spirit of God. This experience was transformative and marked the beginning of his teaching and ministry.
  • Many of us have had such moments (although in most cases nothing as dramatic), when we feel particularly open to or close to God.  Remember Jesus in those moments. Let those moments make a difference in your life.
  • Pastor Jon Heydenreich presides, assisted by Jeff Herman-May, joined by Beverly Wolf as reader and Laura Josephs on piano.
  • No matter who you are in your walk of faith, or where you are in that journey, you are invited to the communion table at Trinity Lutheran Church. Trinity Lutheran Church is an ELCA congregation, more or less traditional and relaxed, and a Reconciling in Christ congregation where all are welcome.
