Don't Get Shut Out, Trinity Lutheran Church, Brattleboro, VT, December 5, 2021 Matthew 25:13 Jesus taught: “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.” A Parable: Five maidens came to the wedding party but did not bring oil for their lamps. They were sent to the village to buy oil. They had money; but not sufficiently prepared – they did not have oil. They were shut out and missed the party. The conclusion of the parable is to be awake, alert, pay attention, watch. The implication is that the five maidens without oil were coasting along…. I suggest one conclusion is to bring your "A" game to life. We have a chance. This one. We have a day. This one. Do not live unconsciously, going through the motions…. Bring your "A" game to this day. Wake up. Don't get shut out.
