We are Trinity Lutheran Church in Brattleboro, VT. It is March 14, 2021 and the Fourth Sunday in Lent. Our Easter-Lent theme is a "Season of Hope." Last week Jesus "turned the tables" on the religious establishment. This Sunday we find ourselves in the desert with the impatient people of Israel in Numbers 21:4-9. The consequences of their impatience is dramatic, and God cannot be blamed. The Gospel reading today is John 3:14-21 and the familiar words "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but have eternal life." In Pastor Randy's absence today the service is led by Assistant Ministers Kris Grotz-Kuch and Ron Solberg, assisted by Micaela Carlton-Newton. Laura Josephs is on the piano. Ron Solberg and Laura Josephs sing a duet entitled "One of Jesus' Children", a beautiful song written by Karen Salveson, a longtime friend of Pastor Randy's from California.
