Description:

Get Out Of The Ego, Trinity Lutheran Church, Brattleboro, VT, June 5, 2022 Genesis 12: 4 The people said, “Come let us build ourselves a tower to the heavens and make a name for ourselves….” The Tower of Babel story is all about conflict and breakdowns in communication. The people insisted on being the greatest. They wanted to be as god - to make a name for themselves. Tell me I am great...this is ego driven. Symbolically, they all spoke different languages and communication broke down In Acts, on the Day of Pentecost, the Spirit descends and people speak one another’s language. Communication is restored and presumably folks get along. God comes, people communicate again. Whenever we insist on “my way,” we feed our egos. Let go of that ego centered way and the need to be affirmed by others. Live in the love of Christ. Let that be our home, not the ego. Pastor Jon Heydenreich presides, joined by Ron Solberg as Assistant Minister, Beverly Wolf as reader, and Laura Josephs on piano. No matter who you are in your walk of faith, or where you are in that journey, you are invited to the communion table at Trinity Lutheran Church. Trinity Lutheran Church is an ELCA congregation, more or less traditional and relaxed, and a Reconciling in Christ congregation where all are welcome.
