Description:
  • This Christmas Find Peace, Trinity Lutheran Church, Brattleboro, VT, December 18, 2022
  •
  • Luke 1:26  God sent the angel Mary… pledged to be married to Joseph,  The angel said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”  Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered ….
  •
  • As the story goes, Mary is not too excited when the angel tells her she will be with child by the Holy Spirit. She questions this, ponders this and eventually comes to a point of acceptance. Joseph her husband was also not happy and wanted to divorce her. Eventually he accepts his situation as well.
  •
  • We can learn from Mary and Joseph.
  •
  • Are you in a place of complaint, finding fault and bemoaning?  Christmas time is chock full of reasons to grouse. We may not verbalize it (sometimes we do!) but we think it. Why don’t the children behave, or why don’t they call, or send gifts, why do they raise their children so differently, why do the neighbors..., why doesn’t my church…, why does the community or the neighborhood…, endless.
  •
  • Be aware of what is going on within…
  •
  • This Christmas look for the good in what IS versus bemoaning what is not.  This is the Way to a more peaceful season.
  •
  • Pastor Jon Heydenreich presides, assisted by Kris Grotz-Kuch, joined by Lynne Stone as reader and Laura Josephs on piano.
  •
  • No matter who you are in your walk of faith, or where you are in that journey, you are invited to the communion table at Trinity Lutheran Church. Trinity Lutheran Church is an ELCA congregation, more or less traditional and relaxed, and a Reconciling in Christ congregation where all are welcome.
