Don't Let It Drain You Of Life, Trinity Lutheran Church, Brattleboro, VT, January 23, 2022 We are captive to our bad habits. There is a trigger – something upsetting happens - and we seek relief. Eat a candy bar or two, drink, gamble...you get the picture. We like the way it makes us feel, and it can become habit. The issue is for us to explore these triggers. Can we move from reacting to responding? Reactions are quick and instantaneous. Grab that candy bar. A response is rooted in contemplation and the movement to stand back a bit and observe. Pause. Watch the trigger. Standing back is living in Christ. Today's worship service was live-streamed from Trinity's Sanctuary to Facebook, with Pastor Jon Heydenreich presiding, Laura Josephs on piano and Marsha Heydenreich singing. No matter who you are in your walk of faith, or where you are in that journey, you are invited to the communion table at Trinity Lutheran Church. Trinity Lutheran Church is an ELCA congregation, more or less traditional and relaxed, and a Reconciling in Christ congregation where all are welcome.
