About our guest artists: Walter Parks and Rob Curtowww.walterparks.com,  www.robcurto.comGuitarist Walter Parks has forged an international music career as the lead guitarist for Richie Havens and leader of swamp blues group Swamp Cabbage.  From 1991 to 1998, Parks and cellist Stephanie Winters recorded three albums and toured U.S. colleges and folk festivals, serving occasionally as Richie Havens’ opening act.  In 2000, Parks, joined Havens’ trio, accompanying him from 2001 to 2011 at venues from Madison Square Garden and Carnegie Hall to The Cannes Film Festival in France and the WOMAD fests in New Zealand/Australia.  Born and raised in Jacksonville, FL, Parks embraces his swampy North Florida roots with his current solo show “Swamp By Chandelier.”

Rob Curto is an accordionist, composer, educator and pianist based in Philadelphia and New York City.  He has a prolific career touring and composing, gaining notoriety for his mastery of the piano accordion, exciting harmonic blends, and general musicianship across genres and musical boundaries.  He is a founding member of the "Brazilian Bluegrass” band Matuto, and is widely regarded as forró’s foremost ambassador in the States.  An early devotee of North American swing music, bebop piano, funk, rock, and blues, he has combined these influences with his mastery of their Brazilian counterparts forró, chorinho, samba, maracatu, and frevo to produce stunning new results.  He spent years living and playing in Brazil, completely absorbing and interpreting the country’s musical traditions.
