On February 3, the Planning Commission held a second information meeting on the proposal to locate a natural gas-fired electric generating plant in Vernon. Voters will be asked to express their preference with regard to this plant in a non-binding referendum to be held in conjunction with the town elections on March 1.

Latchis Arts presented an event in October to celebrate the Jambor murals and other marvels hidden in plain sight and to unveil a newly restored piece of its history, including a discussion by an esteemed art historian; a look into the life of Louis Jambor; a revealing look at the work of restoring a sculpture that was found headless and armless in storage at the Latchis; a talk on the history of the Latchis Family and the theater by Anne Latchis; and more, all accompanied by powerful visual illustrations on the big screen.

Now is the time to tell the Public Service Board that your community needs public access television that has all the features of commercial television on Comcast's cable lineup, including HD channels and listings on the program guide.

As part of Comcast's Certificate of Public Good (CPG) renewal, which happens every 11 years, the Vermont PSB will accept written comments on how well Comcast is meeting your telecommunications needs as a cable provider.  This is a rare opportunity to provide feedback directly to the State.

There are two open seats on BCTV's board. Both of the candidates have served previously.

Martin Langeveld: Running for re-election to an At-large seat for a 3-year term. Martin has been a BCTV Director since 2011.

He spent 30 years in the media business, 28 in the Berkshires of Massachusetts and two at the Brattleboro Reformer, from which he retired in 2008. Earlier, he and his wife were innkeepers for three years in New Marlboro, Massachusetts.
