  • The public is invited to attend a panel discussion via Zoom about a different approach to media that seeks to uncover and report on how people are trying to solve problems—not just the bad news—but what’s working and why—offering communities with the information they need to participate in a healthy democracy.
  • Leading this global shift in journalism is guest, David Bornstein, CEO and co-founder of the Solutions Journalism Network, which is working to establish a leading shift in journalism as an integral part of mainstream news—rigorous and compelling reporting on responses to social problems. Bornstein has been a journalist, focusing primarily on social innovation, for 30 years. From 2010-21, he co-authored the “Fixes” column in The New York Times, which focused on social innovation. He is the author of: How to Change the World: Social Entrepreneurs and the Power of New Ideas, which has been published in 25 languages, The Price of a Dream: The Story of the Grameen Bank, and Social Entrepreneurship: What Everyone Needs to Know.
  • Joining the discussion is Jeff Potter, Executive editor, The Commons and Randy Holhut, editor of The Commons. The discussion will be moderated by Joyce Marcel, writer of award-winning cover stories for Vermont Business Magazine and government reporter for The Commons.
  • Who should Attend: News Editors, Non-Profits, Selectboards, Reporters, Freelancers, Changemakers, and anyone who wants to be part of the solution.
