Description:
It is with the composer’s blessing that Juno excerpts the third movement from Glimpses of Azure, a four-movement work for string orchestra commissioned by A Far Cry, the Boston-based non-conducted string orchestra. The movement describes a dramatic arc, opening with the instruction: like viols. Living in Brookfield, Vermont composer Erik Nielsen’s works have been performed in Canada, Europe, Asia, South America, and Australia. He has won awards and grants from ASCAP, the National Symphony Orchestra, the Vermont Arts Council, the Vermont Community Foundation, and the Kittredge Fund. He is Senior Composition Mentor with Music-COMP (formerly the Vermont MIDI Project).
