Description:

Rod Francis, the Brattleboro Planning Director presented an history of the lower Whetstone Brook, from Elliot Street bridge to the Main Street, Kyle Memorial, Bridge.  Although the land abutting this part of the Whetstone's path is flood plane, industries and business have been built along it.  After Hurricane Irene and the flooding of Flat Street, that parallels the Whetstone Brook, town planning has given considerable thought to re-conceiving usage of this area.

Rod Francis presented a series of slides that showed the current and future proposed use of this land.  The goal was to mitigate flooding while providing affordible housing, responsible businesses and pedestrian/cycling paths and rest areas.
