Description:

Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department biologist, Jaclyn Comeau, shares information about Vermont's black bears. She talks about what it takes for black bears to be successful in Vermont, what draws them into our backyards and what we can do to prevent future conflicts between people and bears. The program focuses on issues specific to Dummerston and its surrounding communities. A question and answer period follows the presentation. Since 2012, Comeau has been involved with bear studies, including black bear activity and habitat use via remote camera data and with satellite GPS collars. She coordinates and conducts research evaluating the effects of industrial wind development on black bears. Jacklyn also assists Vermont residents with resolving human-bear conflicts.
