Money, the Pentagon, and Survival: A Talk by Nick Biddle
What is money and where does it come from? What is the Pentagon’s black budget and who pays for it? What is the Green New Deal and is it feasible? These three questions will be addressed with a focus on demonstrating how answers to them overlap. The perspective of the talk is that the Green New Deal is essentially mandatory for the environment, democracy, and perhaps even human survival. That said, the presentation seeks to carve out a strategy for implementing the Global Green New Deal within the current political context.
Topics discussed:
Bretton Woods, fiat currency revenues vs spending ratio, Star Wars defense spending, trickle-down economics, Reagan economics, military industrial complex, inflating the Pentagon budget, 7-26-2016 Inspector-General's report: "...Defense accounting did not adequately support $2.8 trillion in 3rd quarter adjustments and $6.5 trillion in year-end adjustments made to Army General Fund.
