Description:
Biographer Harold Holzer tells the story of how Daniel Chester French became one of the great sculptors of the 19th century. He created the statue for the Lincoln Memorial, “The Minute Man” of Concord, Massachusetts, and our very own “Spirit of Life,” originally created as a memorial to Wall Street Financier Spencer Trask. One of six, smaller, bronze copies was created for Brattleboro’s park, stolen, and eventually recovered.
