Alan Steinberg co-founded Clayworks on Putney Rd. in 1983, which includes studio space, classes and a showroom for area potters. In 2003, Alan and members of Clayworks offered and developed the idea of "Empty Bowls" as an annual fundraiser for the foodshelf at Groundworks Collaborative here in town, now thriving in its 16th year.
