Diana Whitney
Diana Whitney writes across the genres in Southern Vermont. Her first book, Wanting It, became an indie bestseller and won the Rubery Book Award in poetry. She is the poetry columnist for the San Francisco Chronicle, and her essays, poems and book reviews have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Kenyon Review, Glamour, and many more. She’s the winner of the 2015 Women’s National Book Association poetry prize, selected by Ellen Bass, and has received grants from the Sustainable Arts Foundation, the Vermont Arts Endowment Fund, and the Vermont Studio Center.
Diana has a Masters in English Literature from Oxford University, where she was a Rhodes Scholar, and attended the Warren Wilson College MFA Program for Writers. Her irreverent parenting column, Spilt Milk, was syndicated for years, ran as a public radio commentary series, and lives on as an occasional blog at The Huffington Post.
A yoga teacher by trade, Diana runs Core Flow Yoga out of a studio attached to her family’s farmhouse. She is currently seeking a publisher for her memoir-in-essays about generational patterns of female silence, represented by agent Lisa DiMona of Writers House.
