Ready to be a local producer?
Step-by-step, here’s how it works:
Step 1: Join as a BCTV Member
Membership is required to get access to the Producer Portal if you want to check out video equipment, use our production facilities, schedule a training, or submit content. Note: all fees are waivable upon request.
Step 2: Log into your Producer Account
Here’s where you’ll get access to our reservation system for gear and facilities, and where you’ll submit and manage your content.
Step 3: Decide which gear or facilities you’d like to use
Is it cameras, editing computers, or the studio?
Step 4: Decide what training you need
Schedule a free, individualized training session. If you’re already an expert, this will be a brief orientation. If you’re new to video production, count on about an hour.
Step 5: Request a Reservation
For training, camera kits, or editing time. Enter your preferences and we’ll confirm availability.
Directly book studio time by selecting a 2-hour block.
Step 6: Submit Your Video
When your project is final, log into your Producer Account and submit your video. Add a description to maximize your reach. Submit a YouTube or Vimeo link, or a video file.
Step 5.5: Policies & Procedures
When you submit content, you agree to adhere to BCTV’s Program Content Rules and their governance through BCTV Policies & Procedures. Understand what’s required for copyright, appearance releases, and avoiding commercial content.
Equipment Rental & Paid Gigs
If you want to use BCTV’s equipment or studio for work that’s income-producing or is not intended to air on BCTV, a separate fee structure applies.
Final step: Share your show with the universe & get ready for awards night!
Your show will be scheduled to air on BCTV’s cable channels and uploaded to our video library, with a link for you to share far and wide.
