Dave Seidel at Marigold 11/15/25

Dave Seidel’s room-rumbling set (literally!) was the first all-music performance of the day at Circuits in the Woods, and it was a natural fit to have him appear directly after electronic-music pioneer, Charles Dodge, gave his lecture. Seidel’s music cred is longer than your arm.
Seidel composes and performs electroacoustic music with an emphasis on long tones and microtonal sonorities. Along with many Bandcamp releases (mysterybear.bandcamp.com), he has two CD releases: "~60 Hz" on Irritable Hedgehog (2014) and "Involution" on XI Records (2021). In a previous life as a guitarist, he was part of the 1980s downtown NYC music scene; he performed and recorded in ensembles led by composers Lois V Vierk, Scott Johnson, Guy Klucevsek, and Bill Obrecht. Seidel is best known for the premiere recording of Vierk’s "五 Guitars" ("Go Guitars") on Vierk’s CD "Simoom" (XI Records, 1991). He lives in New Hampshire.

Circuits in the Woods, a festival celebrating Vermont’s role in the invention of the analog synthesizer and the Synclavier, came to downtown Brattleboro, Vermont, on Saturday, November 15, 2025. The all-day festival, founded and co-produced by local radio host and journalist, Wendy M. Levy, featured 25 events on five stages, including performances, lectures, and a "synth petting zoo," from artists of many genres using electronics as their only source or to manipulate acoustic instruments or their voices. Locations were Turn It Up! at 85 Main Street, 118 Elliot at 118 Elliot Street, Tavernier Chocolates at 128 Main Street, Marigold at 157 Main Street, and The Wonky Press at 229 Main Street.
