Informational Session for the 2026 Brattleboro Open Town Meeting.

Open Town Meeting will be held on April 11, 2026, starting at 8:30 a.m. in the Brattleboro Union High School gymnasium.

Article 1: To see if the Town will ratify, approve and confirm the Selectboard’s appointment of a Town Clerk for a term of one year.
Article 2: To see if the Town will ratify, approve and confirm the Selectboard’s appointment of a Town Treasurer for a term of one year.
Article 3: To see if the Town will ratify, approve and confirm the Selectboard’s appointment of a Town Attorney for a term of one year
Article 4: To see if the Town will authorize its Selectboard to borrow money in anticipation of taxes, grants and other revenue.
Article 5: To see if the Town will raise and appropriate the sum of $131,698.86 through special assessments on property within the "Mountain Home Park Special Benefit Assessment Tax District" for the purpose of paying debt service on the capital improvements to the water and sewer lines serving the Mountain Home and Deepwood Mobile Home Parks.
Article 6: To see if the Town will raise and appropriate the sum of $80,000.00 through special assessments on properties within the Downtown Improvement District to be used for capital and operating costs of projects of the Town’s duly designated downtown organization.
Article 7: To see how much money the Town will raise, appropriate, and expend to defray all of its expenses and liabilities, in addition to any funds authorized for any other Articles in these Warnings.
Article 8: To see if the Town will raise and appropriate the sum of one dollar ($1.00) for the support of social service programs and facilities within the Town, to be allocated as recommended by the Human Services Committee as appointed by the Selectboard, and approved by the Selectboard.
Article 9: To see if the Town will approve exemption of the municipal tax portion of real estate taxes for Brattleboro Post 5 American Legion’s Little League Field for a period of five years.
Article 10: To see if the Town will approve exemption of the municipal tax portion of real estate taxes for The Family Garden, Inc., for a period of five years
Article 11: To see if the Town will approve exemption of the municipal tax portion of real estate taxes for New England Center for Circus Arts (NECCA) for a period of five years.
Article 12: To elect two representatives to the Capital Grant Review Board for a term of one year. Members to be nominated from the floor
Article 13: To see if the Town will establish an advisory budget committee consisting of five (5) members
Article 14: If the vote on Article 13 is in the affirmative, to see if the advisory budget committee shall be appointed by the Selectboard, and thereafter elected by ballot beginning on Town Meeting Day 2027.
Article 15: To elect three Trustees for the Brooks Memorial Library to serve three years and one trustee to fill a one-year unexpired term, and to ratify a temporary appointment to fulfill the remainder of an unexpired term.
Article 16: To see if the annual town meeting shall hereafter start on the Sunday preceding the first Tuesday in March for the transaction of any business not involving voting by Australian ballot or voting required by law to be by ballot.
Article 17: To transact any other business that may lawfully come before the meeting.

Any material subject to copyright, ownership, royalty rights or residuals unless releases, licenses or other permissions have been obtained. c. I agree to hold harmless and indemnify BCTV, its Board of Directors, and employees from any liability, loss, claim, cost, or damage of any nature stemming from the telecast of the program, including all legal fees and expenses involved in defending such a claim or action. Should a dispute arise between myself and BCTV which cannot be resolved by direct negotiation, I agree that my sole and final recourse will be arbitration by the Vermont Public Service Board. e. I agree to abide by all BCTV Policies and Procedures.
