Description:

Join us for a conversation with five extraordinary poets on the topic of poetry and social justice. We’re delighted to bring together Cameron Awkward-Rich, Natalie Diaz, Carolyn Forché, Major Jackson, and Elizabeth Powell, who have all written memorable poetry that bears witness to injustice. The authors will read from their new books and discuss questions such as: What is the role of poetry in our age of crisis? What poems have influenced you that are timeless and topical at the same time? How do your poems move from the page into the world, becoming memorable speech that brings about justice? How can we learn through language to talk to each other, to listen deeply, and to envision a future of equality and diversity? Facilitated by Diana Whitney and Chard deNiord
