Mothers and Sons – Adam Haslett and Sam Sussman
In Adam Haslett’s Mothers and Sons, a mother and son, estranged for years, must grapple with the shared secret that drove their lives apart in this enthralling novel about family, forgiveness, and the lifelong impact of a fleeting act of violence. In Sam Sussman’s Boy From the North Country, at twenty-six, Evan is suddenly called home to his mother’s farmhouse. He doesn’t know his mother is dying and he still doesn’t know the identity of his biological father or the elusive story of his mother’s turbulent romance with Bob Dylan.
Adam Haslett, journalist and author of three novels and a short story collection, has twice been a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, as well as a finalist for the National Book Award and the National Book Critics Circle Award. His new book is Mother and Sons. He lives in New York City.
Sam Sussman is the author of the debut novel Boy From the North Country which Kirkus Reviews called “the most beautiful and moving mother- son story in recent memory.” He lives in the Yorkville neighborhood of Manhattan and his native Hudson Valley.
