Description:

The Brattleboro Area Chamber of Commerce invites the public to attend The Growing Business of Cannabis: A panel discussion on the ins and outs of the cannabis industry. This Chamber Breakfast Series event will take place from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5; at the American Legion, 32 Linden St. Tickets are $20 and include a full buffet breakfast. RSVP is required. The State of Vermont legalized the sale of medical marijuana in 2004, but cannabis remains illegal under federal law. And while the Vermont Legislature has been debating a tax-and regulate system for retail sales, no bill has passed both chambers. This discussion will explore the future of the cannabis industry in Vermont, where we are now, where we're going and what the cannabis business means for our economy and our communities. Topics to be discussed include banking and finance, education, advertising, regulation, and current and future state and federal laws. In addition, the panel will take questions from the audience. The panel of experts includes: Bridget Conry, director of marketing, Champlain Valley Dispensary; state Sen. Becca Balint, D-Windham District; Cary Giguere, director of Public Health, Agricultural Resource Management for the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets; David Harlow, attorney with Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC; Cassandra Holloway, coalition director for the Brattleboro Area Prevention Coalition; state Sen. Jeanette White, D-Windham District; and Dan Yates, president and CEO of Brattleboro Savings and Loan.
