Description:

"The Coward," an original one-act play written by Putney native Kati Schwartz, performed atThe Next Stage in Putney on January 17 for one “coming home” performance after four sold-out performances on January 10 and 11 in New York City.

"The Coward" premiered in August 2014 as a staged reading at the Williamstown Theatre Festival in Williamstown MA.  Schwartz, an actress with extensive credits in improvisational and sketch comedy and in dance and classical theatre, was mentored in her playwriting by Samuel D. Hunter, a 2014 recipient of one of the MacArthur Foundation "genius" grants. Hunter's most recent play, "Pocatello," is currently playing at Playwright's Horizon in New York City to sold-out crowds and critical acclaim.

Set at a summer theatre festival in Canada, “The Coward” is a structurally ambitious coming-of age comedy that creates explosive hilarity from a tear-jerking scenario of bullying and betrayal.
