Description:

Colonel Ebenezer Hinsdale's Garrison Company - an Abenaki Perspective

Re-enactors portrayed the lives of settlers at the garrison fort of the early 18th century. Rich Holschuh, public liason for the Elnu Abenaki spoke of indigenous people and the Abenaki of Wantastiquet. He led a small tour to the suspected site of Hinsdale's Fort on a wooded bluff above the banks of the Conneticutt River.  Rich has led efforts to see the town of Brattleboro  proclaim the second Monday in October, (the day that is traditionally known as Columbus Day) Indigenous Peoples Day.
